    Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley is a contemporary fiction story set in an Ojibwe community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Daunis is biracial, and though both sides of her family love her, sometimes the two halves of her life collide in unexpected and awkward ways. Because of recent changes in her family, Daunis has elected to spend the year at home instead of going away to college.
